The Best Tours in Valencia

Now let’s get into the best tours in Valencia. I’ll be listing the 7 Valencia tours that I believe are worth your time.

Because at the end of the day — no two travelers are alike! So here’s a range of tours you can take part in to meet your travel style and budget. I’ll be listing specific tours, but I’ll also give you some related options in case they don’t quite work out.

So let’s get you a guided experience of the city!

Walking Tours

I am a huge fan of walking tours. Just about anytime I travel somewhere, I’ll hire a walking tour to explore the city.

Because I love hearing the stories, the history, and the hidden gems that you can’t always find on the internet. Or that you wouldn’t notice yourself!

Which is why I recommend a walking tour like this one. It’s one of my favorite tours in Valencia thanks to the fact that they show you the Ciutat Vella in an exciting and entertaining way.

Let’s face it – nothing worse than a boring tour when your feet hurt.

But I think this one has some great tour guides that do a good job of making it interesting. Learn more about the different types of architecture, stories about the city, and fun facts about Valencia

Wine & Tapas Tours

You can’t come to one of the most important wine countries in Europe and not go on a wine tour!

This wine tour gives you an intimate glimpse into local delicacies, all while learning more about local wines. You’ll enjoy a lovely meal in a building from the 11th century while learning more about the history of wine in the area.

I think this is a super fun Valencia tour that any wine or food lover should try! And considering all the food and drinks are included – as well as a mini tour through the city center — it’s a very affordable tour, too!

Paella Cooking Class

If you ask me — this is the best tour in Valencia.

Because what better way to learn about the city, its people, and its culture than via a cooking class? You’ll learn how to make an authentic paella valenciana with a local chef.

First, you’ll head over to the Russafa market to get local ingredients. And then you’ll head back to the kitchen to learn how to make this classic dish yourself. Paella is a UNESCO-recognized tradition and is one of the things Valencia is famous for!

The cooking class itself is a small group cooking class, so you’ll meet some other travelers and get to speak to locals. You’ll also get to try some typical food from Valencia, along with some drinks.

It’s a great way to get more involved with the culture while you’re here. And maybe it’s just because I love food tours, but I genuinely think it’s one of the best ways to get to experience a city!

Bike Tour

Are you a fan of exploring a city on two wheels? Then this is one of the best tours in Valencia for you.

This is a unique bike tour that takes you from the city down to the beach. It’s a great way to see all the different sides of the city. Plus, the beach area is one of the best places to get paella, so it’s a perfect opportunity for you!

You’ll also get to see things like the City of Arts and Sciences. And since these are relatively far away from the city center (on foot) – it’s a quick and easy way to see the whole city if you’re low on time.

Worried about biking? There are dedicated bike lanes throughout almost the entire city.

Just note: within the city center, pedestrians have right-of-way. So even if you’re on a road — pedestrians have priority. That’s why this tour takes you down to the beach on dedicated bike lanes so you can explore freely.

Albufera Boat Tour

L’Albufera plays a huge role in Valencia’s culture, economy, and gastronomy. This freshwater lake is one of the most important parks in Valencia. Taking a tour of the Albufera is a fantastic way to learn more about the city’s history, and learn how this lake shaped its people.

It’s one of the most unique tours in Valencia, taking you on a boat ride through the lake.

This is a super fun tour that I did when I first moved to Valencia, so I highly recommend it!

You’ll see the wetlands where all of Valencia’s famous rice grows. Plus you’ll get to see the traditional barraques where fishermen lived. This is a fun cultural experience, and a very family-friend one at that!

Just note: if you’re on a summer evening — bring bug spray!

Peníscola Tour

Want to take a day trip from Valencia?

Well, then you have plenty of options! But I think one of the most important Valencia tours is to Peníscola. This coastal town is well-known for the castle that’s perched on a rocky hillside, with gardens flowing all the way down until you get to the beach.

It’s so impressive — they filmed parts of Game of Thrones here!

Since it’s fairly close to the city, it’s an easy one-day escape to take a tour here. I did a tour in January and had an amazing time. And if you’re a fan of seafood — this is a great place to try some!

Private Tour

I get it — not everyone wants to deal with a “one-size-fits-all” walking tour. Sometimes, you just want to get a truly personalized, in-depth look at the city.

Which is exactly what you get with this private tour

You’ll have a local guide tailor the itinerary to your tastes, and they’ll show you everything that you’re interested in seeing. Plus you’ll get a private vehicle, making for a comfortable (and air-conditioned) way to explore the city.

Naturally, the price tag for this tour is higher. But if you have a bigger travel budget, then this is one of the best luxury experiences in Valencia.
