Let’s talk about the best Valencia souvenirs and what you should be bringing home as a gift! Find an authentic gift that encapsulates your trip — and that’s actually relevant to the Valencian culture. In this guide, we’ll go over the best souvenirs from Valencia, as well as where to find them.
The Best Gifts To Bring Your Family
When it comes to souvenirs, I always prefer looking for something that’s an authentic part of the culture.
Because, sure — you could get a little mug with a flamenco dancer on it.
… but that has nothing to do with Valencian culture. So in my eyes, it’s kind of a waste of money.
So in this article, I’ll be going over some more genuine gifts you can bring home. Whether it’s for a loved one or just to keep for your own memories — these are some souvenirs about things Valencia is known for.

The Best Valencia Souvenirs
Honestly, there are a lot of souvenirs in Valencia to choose from. So I’ll break these down into categories and give you my top recommendation on where to buy them!
And make sure you stick to the end of the article to find out which Valencia souvenirs to avoid.
Ceramic Tiles
Valencia is famous for its stunning ceramic craftsmanship. Because not only is it one of the most important places for the ceramic industry, but it also has several different styles to choose from.
You can grab a socarrat tile, one of the most traditional ways to decorate your home. Socarrat means burnt – so you get these deep red and brown tones depicting traditional scenes or mythological creatures.
You can also go for a trencadís decoration. These are the mosaic-esque styles that you’ll see all over the City of Arts and Sciences. This is another unique Valencian art that is easy to recognize.
So if you want some decorations — go for some ceramic tiles.
I recommend purchasing ceramic souvenirs from:
- Artesania Yuste
- Colla Monlleó
Both of those shops are in the Ciutat Vella and easily accessible!
Ventalls (Artisanal Fans)
Ventalls, abanicos, palmitos — these are all the artisanal handheld fans that help you get through the warm Valencian summer.
These are a perfect souvenir to remember your trip to Valencia.
Because not only are they handcrafted art pieces, they’re also incredibly functional!
A well-made ventall is surprisingly good at helping you deal with the warmer months. So I think it’s a perfect Valencia souvenir for anyone looking to actually use the item.
I recommend getting them from Abanicos Vibenca in the city center. I bought one for my mom on my last trip back to the US!
Although they are slightly more expensive here, I always recommend supporting local artisans whenever possible.
Local Beverages
Want to bring a taste of Valencia back home with you? Then make sure to grab a bottle of the many drinks that make the Valencia gastronomy so special.
You have a few options to choose from here, but here are my recommendations for drinkable souvenirs.
- Wine from Utiel-Requena (the biggest wine producer in the area)
- Mistela (A sweet dessert wine)
- Orxata (A traditional dessert)
- Cassalla (An herbed licor – not for the faint of heart!)
Personally, I would recommend mistela as one of the best souvenirs from Valencia. It’s a super traditional wine that most people love. People usually drink a shot-glass worth after lunch.
Or if you’re like my husband’s family — while they’re playing dominó!
I recommend getting these from Valencia CV, right across from the Mercat Central. This is one of my favorite stores — I usually get nice olive oils for gifts here, too!
Want to try them first? Here are the best bars in Valencia.
Local Foods
Worried about putting a bottle in your suitcase? I totally get it.
Then you can always go for a more solid route with your souvenirs! Valencia has a rich cuisine with lots of products you can actually take home with you. Because even though you can’t take a Valencian esmorzaret home with you, there are some foods that you can!
So here are my top recommendations for food souvenirs:
- Orange Products – Think jams, etc. Nothing beats a freshly-picked orange, but it’s a nice way to remember your trip!
- Bomba Rice – The essential ingredient for authentic paella.
- Olives – You can get them vacuum-sealed at the Mercat Central!
- Turró – Artisanal nougat is a holiday classic and easy to pack
And of course, you always have things like ham, cheese, etc. But those are more Castilian than they are Valencian.
Regardless, I’d recommend getting all of these items at the Mercat Central.
Artisanal Items
Looking for some more high-end, artisanal products? Then there are a lot of different handicrafts you can buy that perfectly encapsulate the Valencian culture.
Here are a few option for different artisanal souvenirs from Valencia:
- Silk – A huge part of Valencian culture that’s still present during Les Falles
- Dolçaina – A musical instrument that couldn’t be more essential to the Valencian culture!
- Woven Baskets – Another traditional craft that’s very practical
- Les Falles Ornaments – Hair pins, dresses, whatever you’d like.
All of these items can be purchased from artisanal shops in La Ciutat Vella. I think these are some great souvenirs if you have a bit of a higher budget, and want something truly authentic.
Art Prints
If you’re someone like me who is a bit cheaper frugal when traveling, art prints are a great way to have a lasting memory.
I find that most cities tend to have their own “style” when it comes to the art prints. Especially since the local artists are influenced by Valencian culture.
So if you want an artsy Valencia souvenir, look into some prints.
These types of souvenirs are really popular here, and you can find a pretty big variety. Personally, I find them to be a great option.
My favorite shop is La Postalera. You can find everything from large prints to small magnets. So even if you want something little, you can spend 2 euros and get a lovely souvenir.
Plus: this is an LGBT-friendly shop that supports local artists — so I’m a big fan!
Sports Memorabilia
Have a football (soccer) fan in your life? Make sure to get some memorabilia from the Valencia CF team.
They might not be as famous as the Barcelona or Real Madrid teams, but hey — you have to support the underdogs, too!
You can visit the Mestalla Stadium on your itinerary, as they have a big shop nearby. Or you can head down the Carrer de Colom to visit another official store.
Souvenirs to Avoid
While there are a lot of fantastic, authentic Valencia souvenirs … well, there are plenty of tourist traps, too.
Mostly because there are lots of tourist shops that just jump on the bandwagon and try to sell you anything. Because the unprepared tourist doesn’t know any better!
But, luckily you have me to help point you in the right direction.
So here are a few souvenirs from Valencia that I would NOT purchase:
- Anything with Agua de Valencia (it’s really not as traditional as they try to tell you)
- Tote bags (90% of the time they’re cheap and imported)
- Xufa (Tiger nuts to make orxata…. but are you really going to make it from scratch?)
- Cava (That’s from Catalonia and always it will explode)
- Saffron (Super expensive and, again, are you really going to use it?)
- Anything college-related (That’s just a scam)
